Abstract

This paper summarizes the development of the bond market in China (CBM). It contextualizes this development within the historical, contemporary and futuristic economic modelling of the economy with particular reference to the financial sector. The core issues that are discussed include sovereign right concessions, turbulence, legalities, political oversight, debt financing and internationalization. The paper concludes that the prospects for the bond market in China are broadly optimistic based on its alignment with existing economic reforms.
